*This is a drop-off event, and you can register for as many days as you would like and are available!

Let your child embark on a rhythmic journey across the globe! In this engaging drop-off event, children will explore the sounds and rhythms of Africa, the Middle East, India, Indonesia, and Japan. This immersive experience will inspire creativity, boost confidence, and help kids develop an appreciation for global music—all while having a blast with their peers! 

Duration: 02/15/25-02/19/25, from 10:30-12pm in the Art Room. (This is a drop-off event, and you can register for as many days as you would like and are available.)

Saturday, 02/15/25: "Journey to Africa: The Language of the Drum" - Rhythm is a language. This workshop is influenced by the Urba tradition of Africa. A village circle will be set up using drums, small percussion instruments, and voice. 

Sunday, 02/16/25: "A Middle Eastern Adventure in Improvisation" - Participants will explore Middle Eastern dumbek rhythms. A Middle Eastern drum groove will be set with the addition of bells and shakers. 

Monday, 02/17/25: "Journey to India: South Indian Solkattu" - The rhythmic language of southern India will be explored, linking rhythms to voice, body, movement, and instruments. 

Tuesday, 02/18/25: "Journey to Indonesia: Gamelan-Influenced Improvisation" - This workshop is a "Balinese gamelan-style" experience using drums and kitchen sounds, (pots, pans, bowls...).

Wednesday, 02/19/25: "Japan: Exploring Form and Texture" - Participants will explore Japanese-styled influences including the balance of sound and silence, spacious rhythms, and the written word, (haiku).
